Day 2: Yen Minh - Lung Cu - Dong Van

Rise and shine at 7:00 AM to witness the sunrise over a hot cup of coffee before we head to Pho Cao, where the spectacular Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark awaits us.

Tham Ma Pass is our first stop, and you won't be disappointed by the breathtaking views it offers. This pass has a fascinating history, once serving as a test for horses carrying goods. Only the strongest made it to the top, and the weaker ones were turned into a traditional dish called Thang Co.

Venture through steep, treeless valleys to reach the iconic "Nine-Turn Pass," a photographer's dream, where you can capture the road snaking down to a flat valley surrounded by magnificent limestone karsts. There's even a side route to the quaint market town of Pho Bang and a remote Chinese border.

The journey wouldn't be complete without a visit to Vuong Place, the grand home of Vuong Duc Chinh and his son Vuong Chi Sinh. The palace's history and architecture are awe-inspiring, and you'll be intrigued by the intricate wooden engravings that symbolize prosperity and wealth.

Around noon, we'll take a break for lunch and a well-deserved rest before continuing to Lung Cu flagpole, a significant landmark marking Vietnam's extreme north. The sight of giant boulders and the national flag flying above Dragon Mountain against a backdrop of magnificent forests will fill you with pride.

By 6:00 PM, we'll arrive at the enchanting Dong Van old quarter town, the northernmost district of Ha Giang province, and the unique karst plateau geopark in Vietnam. Explore the rolling mountains and learn about the daily life of the Dong Van residents, making sure to visit the bustling Dong Van market, a popular spot for tourists.

After checking in at a cozy homestay at 5:00 PM, indulge in a family dinner featuring hotpot and BBQ. And why not take a leisurely walk around Dong Van old town, soaking in the wonderful evening atmosphere?
