Chau market is located in Lung Vai commune, Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province. It is about 30 km from Lao Cai train station, and 65 km from Sapa town.
Chau market is one of the oldest markets in the region. It was established in the 19th century. This place used to be a famous trading center in the East of Thuy Vy.
Chau market is held on Friday, starting early in the morning, at about 6am, and ending around noon.
Coming here, you will meet different Vietnamese ethnic groups such as: H’mong, Lo Lo, Tay, Nung, Giay… The young girls wear beautiful dresses, and hold open umbrellas creating a vivid colorful picture.
