Can Cau market is located in Si Ma Cai district, Lao Cai province. It is about 20 km from Bac Ha town, and 120 km from Sapa town. This is one of the most fascinating open–air markets in the northern highlands of Vietnam.
Can Cau market is held weekly on Saturday in the morning, starting at about 6am and ending around noon. Visitors come here to contemplate a lively market of colorful minorities’ costume, textile products, fresh farm produce and taste the original specialties.
The market is smaller and less crowded than Bac Ha market. Thus, it still retains the local quaint and authentic atmosphere, making it a favorite off-the-beaten path travel destination.
