This 5 day Off The Beaten Path Cao Bang Trek is another moderate/hard trek is arranged in Cao Bang province, northeast Vietnam. Visit the most remote hill tribe villages of the Tay, Nung to experience traditions and customs. The accommodation is very limited, thus the package is ideal for those who don’t care much about the comfort while traveling.

Cao Bang Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Hanoi -> Cao Bang (-/L/D)
Picked up at your hotel in Hanoi and brought to Cao Bang. Lunch is served en route. Arrive Cao Bang town about mid-afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner. Overnight in Cao Bang at hotel.
Day 2: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc – Quang Uyen (B/L/D)
Enjoy a scenic trip north of Cao Bang to the beautiful Ban Gioc Waterfall on the Vietnam-China border. This picturesque waterfall is 53 meters high and has an impressive span of 300 meters. The unique landscape includes limestone karst formations soaring from the verdant rice paddies of Tay, H’Mong and Dzao ethnic minority groups. The waterfall is impressive in the rainy season (May – September). Lunch is served in a local restaurant. On the way back, explore the giant 2,144m Nguom Ngao Cave. Dinner and overnight in Quang Uyen at local home.
Day 3: Quang Uyen – Ta Lung – Dac Lon (B/L/D)
After breakfast, you will be brought by car to Ta Lung border gate. The car stops there, and we continue our third part of the trek. Cross the Bang Giang river with a bridge. We follow a trail which goes through Tay villages, and rocky mountains. Hiking from one valley to another till we reach Dac Lon village. Stop for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Dac Lon – Giang Xi – Nam Nie (B/L/D)
Start the day activities with a 3K trail which runs through local hill tribe villages and paddy fields. A rough climb takes us to a valley. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of limestone peaks along the way. Keep following the trail, we enter the forest. It’s humid and slippery. After the descent, easier we reach a paddy field, surrounded by limestone peaks. This is the valley of Nam Nie. Check into a local house for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Nam Nie – Dong Khe – Lang Son – Hanoi (B/L/D)
Breakfast at local home. It’s a bit tough today as we climb mostly uphill for about 3 hours to reach a new pass. Arrive out of the bowl of Dong Khe. The Battle of Dong Khe was a battle fought between French Far East Expeditionary Force and the Viet Minh during the French Indochina War. It took place in Dong Khe, in the Province of Tonkin, Vietnam, from September 15 to September 18, 1950, ending with a Viet Minh victory. This is now a peaceful town on the route #4. Lunch is served at local restaurant. Transfer back to Hanoi. End.
