Ha Giang Du Gia National Park Creation

The Prime Minister announces the establishment of Du Gia National Park on the Dong Van karst plateau in the northern mountainous Ha Giang province. Du Gia national park has a 8,850ha buffer zone across six communes in districts of Yen Minh, Bac Me, Vi Xuyen and Quan Ba. A wide selection of Ha Giang tours are arranged in the area including Ha Giang hiking tours, Ha Giang motorbike tour, and Ha Giang cycling tour

Ha Giang is bounded by Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai provinces and has common international border with China in the north. Ha Giang has many mountains, including the two highest peaks, namely, the Tay Con Linh (2419 m) and the Kieu Lieu Ti (2,402 metres (7,881 ft)) and forests that provide lumber.

The 15,000 ha Du Gia national park, which is formed by merging the Du Gia nature reserve and Khau Ca Species and Habitat Conservation Area, spreads over three communes of Tung Ba (Vi Xuyen district), Minh Son (Bac Me district) and Du Gia (Yen Minh district).

The zoned area is to protect the local ever-green eco-system and rare and endangered animals and plants, while preserving protection forests in Gam River basin, contributing to stabilising agricultural and industrial production in the area.

Additionally, the Du Gia national park is expected to boost Ha Giang Vietnam eco-tourism, raise locals’ awareness of environment protection and facilitate scientific research in Ha Giang province.
